In short
- Oveluni records aren't included in your iPhone's automatic iCloud backups; make Oveluni's own backup before you switch.
- On your old iPhone, go to Settings > Move to a new iPhone > Save a backup and save the password-protected backup to Files.
- On your new iPhone, choose Restore from a file on the same screen, enter your password and review the scope.
- Your account and subscription aren't in the backup; you get your subscription back separately with Restore purchases.
- You don't need Premium to back up and restore.
Getting a new iPhone is exciting, but one question tends to sit at the back of your mind: what happens to the records I've kept for months? Your medication plans, period days, check-up dates and notes may not move to the new phone on their own. In this guide we explain how to move your records in two steps with Oveluni's Move to a new iPhone screen, and what to keep in mind before you start.
Why do you need a separate Oveluni backup?
When you set up a new iPhone, Apple lets you transfer your data directly from your old phone with Quick Start, or from an iCloud or computer backup. That works for most of your apps. Oveluni is a little different.
Oveluni keeps your records only on this iPhone, with iOS file protection, and doesn't include them in automatic cloud backups. Signing in with Apple doesn't move your records to the cloud either; sign-in only identifies your session on the device. That's good for privacy, but it also comes with a responsibility: you need to make your own backup before you change phones or delete the app.
So the easiest order is this: first make your Oveluni backup, then set up your new phone with Apple's transfer steps as usual, and finally open Oveluni and restore your backup. That way, everything else on your phone moves the way you're used to, while your health records come along in their own password-protected file.

What to get ready before you start
Doing the move at a calm moment makes things easier. Before you start, have these ready:
- Keep both phones at hand. Make the backup before you reset or hand over your old iPhone.
- Pick a save location. The backup is saved to the Files app. Choose a place you can also open from your new iPhone; Oveluni gives iCloud Drive as an example here. If you like, you can also move the file to another location you trust.
- Think of a backup password. Your backup is protected with a password of at least 12 characters. Oveluni can't recover this password, so choose one you won't forget and keep it somewhere safe.
- Install Oveluni on your new iPhone. The restore is done from inside the app on the new phone.
Step 1: Make a backup on your old iPhone
In Oveluni, tap the gear in the top right of any tab to open Settings. In the Your data section you'll see the Move to a new iPhone screen. The top of the screen shows how many records you have and when your last backup was made.
- Tap Save a backup on the On your current iPhone card. The backup page opens; all tracking areas, including hidden ones, and your notes are added to the backup.
- Check the Also include section. If you like, you can add your Profile preferences and Profile photo to the backup too. Your account, subscription and device permissions aren't included in the backup.
- Protect your backup. Enter your Backup password twice.
- Tap Save to Files. In the window that opens, choose a location you can also reach from your new phone, and save.
Once saving is complete, the last backup info on the Move to a new iPhone screen updates. That's the easiest way to see that the backup was really made.
Step 2: Restore on your new iPhone
On your new phone, open Oveluni and go to the Move to a new iPhone screen in Settings again. This time you'll use the On your new iPhone card.
- Tap Restore from a file. Then use Choose backup file to find the file you saved.
- Unlock your backup. Enter the password you set when you created the backup.
- Review restore scope. The screen shows when the backup was created and what's inside it. If your profile preferences or photo are in the backup, this is where you choose whether to restore them.
- Tap Restore records and confirm. Oveluni asks you whether your current records should be replaced with this backup.
There's one important thing to know here: restoring replaces all the existing records and the monthly cycle plan on that phone with the ones in the backup. If you entered a few records on the new phone to try it out and want to keep them too, back them up before restoring.
You don't need Premium to back up and restore. Your subscription is kept separate from your records; to continue with Premium on your new phone, you can use the Restore purchases link on the same screen.
What to check after the move
Once your records have arrived, set aside a few minutes for a quick check:
- Look at the Calendar and Records tabs. Make sure a few records you entered in recent weeks are there.
- Review your reminders. Notification permission is asked for again on the new phone, because device permissions aren't included in the backup. Make sure your medication and check-up reminders are on.
- Turn App lock back on. Enable the lock with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode on the new phone as well. We explain why it matters in locking your health app with Face ID.
- Don't delete the backup file right away. Keep it until you're sure everything is in place.
If you're going to sell your old phone or give it to someone, once you've confirmed your records are on the new phone, you can use the Delete records section in Settings on the old device. Deletion can't be undone, but it doesn't touch backup files you saved earlier. And if your phone ever goes missing unexpectedly, you'll find what you can do in what happens to your health records if you lose your phone.
A few common questions
Is this a sync? No. This transfers your data through a file; the two phones don't stay connected. Records you enter on the old phone after the restore won't move to the new one.
Can I open and read the backup file? The Oveluni backup is for restoring your records into the app. If you want a readable document, you can create a PDF report in the Reports & export section in Settings.
What if I forget my password? Oveluni can't recover the backup password. Without it, that backup can't be opened, so it's a good idea to keep the password in a password manager you trust or somewhere safe. If needed, you can make a new backup while you still have your old phone.
You can explore Oveluni's other privacy and tracking features on the Features page. Oveluni is coming soon to the App Store.
